AshantiGold coach Yaw Acheampong has blamed his teamââ¬â¢s FA Cup loss to New Edubiase on referee Joseph Lamptey.
The Miners who were favourites to win this seasonââ¬â¢s title were pipped 1-0 by the Berkwai-based side at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
A well taken free kick by captain Moro Ibrahim in the second half proved enough to fetch Edubiase their first major silverware.
But Acheampong says dodgy officiating by Lamptey especially with the sending off of Eric Opoku was responsible for his teamââ¬â¢ inability to clinch the title.
ââ¬ÅAm so disappointed by the performance of the referee,â⬠he said.
ââ¬ÅI usually donââ¬â¢t talk about referees but the red card he gave was really bad.
ââ¬ÅI am very happy with the performance of my boys but sometimes in football something small can happen to change the game.
ââ¬ÅYou could see that they (Edubiase) were not coming but after the red card they started coming in so am really disappointed in the refereeââ¬â¢s performance today.ââ¬
AshGoldââ¬â¢s loss meant coach Acheampong was unable to make history by winning the FA Cup title as a player and then as a coach.
Edubiase will represent Ghana at next seasonââ¬â¢s Caf Confederations Cup.
