AshantiGold coach Bashir Hayford says he will not be deterred by the unscientific comments of his critics over his track record in the second half of the season.

Hayford has often led teams to mid-season championship only to fluff their lines in the second half of the season.

The former Asante Kotoko coach has again led AshGold to the top of the First Capital Plus League ahead of the start of the second half of the season.

But just like last season, many fear the Miners would not be able to sustain their title charge.

But Bashir Hayford says his poor performance in the second half of the season had been as a result of unfavourable circumstances and not entirely his dooing.

“My critics are not scientists. They have not brought out any scientific proof,” he said.

“I will not be deterred by what my critics say over my second round performance.

“At Kessben, we were at the top and the team owner Kwabena Kesse told me he couldn’t go to Africa.”

AshGold finished the first half of the season four points clear at the top of the First Capital Plus League.
