AshantiGold Chief Executive Kudjoe Fianoo has hinted his side could pull out of the GHALCA top-four competition.

The miners finished second on the Ghana Premier League table after rounding up their campaign with a 2-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs at Sekondi over the weekend.

The top-four clubs including champions Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak and Medeama are expected to participate in the annual high profile pre-season competition organized by the club’s umbrella body.

But after last season’s novelty top-8 competition ending in a financial fiasco, the Obuasi-based club want to remain  cautious about their involvement this term.

“We just finished the League and so it is imperative we take our time before we decide whether to play or not,” Fianoo said

“Last season was a financial disaster. We incurred  lots of debts while monies due us were not paid.

“I need to talk to my management team and see whether it will be financially prudent to play in the competition.

“It’s too early in the day. Let us wait and see what happens in the near future,”
