AshantiGold have cut Kotoko's 10-point lead at the top of the Glo Premier League log to eight after defeating Bechem on Sunday.

The Miners beat the Bechem side 1-0 at the Len Clay Stadium as new signing Bernard Akuffo scored in the 4th minute.

The win for Yaw Acheampong's team extended their impressive run in the league to seven straight victories.

AshantiGold will now turn their attention to their up-coming fixture against champions Berekum Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Berekum Chelsea climbed to fourth in the Glo Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs on Sunday.

The win at the Golden City Park improved their chances of a title defence though they remain 11 points adrift the top.

Solomon Asante scored the match winner in the first half to hand Chelsea, who are also competing in the African Champions League competition a home win.

The champions were in fantastic form last weekend, winning 5-0 against Raja Casablanca in the second round first leg tie of the continental club competition.

But Chelsea faltered three days after when they could only draw goalless with bottom side, Bechem United in the domestic league.
