Ghanaian side AshGold have received a massive US$1m cash boost after winning a legal battle over CS Sfaxien over the transfer of former player Opoku Agyemang.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled on Thursday that the Tunisia side must pay the Obuasi-based club the amount by the end of July.
Sfaxien refused to pay AshGold their 30% share of the onward transfer of the winger to Qatari side Al Sadd.
Agyemang joined Sfaxien from Ashgold in 2005 when an agreement was reached for Sfaxien to pay the Ghanaian side 30% of any onward transfer.
But when the pkayer secured a move to Al Sadd in 2008 for US$3.5m, the Tunisians refused to heed to the agreement they had with Ashgold which resulted in a long battle.
Cas in its ruling by a Single Judge in the matter which begun last year, directed Sfaxien to pay AshGold the exact amount due the Ghanaians.
The cash boost comes at a time when the Obuasi-based club are heavy in the transfer market seeking to boost their ranks ahead of the new season.
