AshantiGold has confirmed they are in talks with Liberty Professionals for the services of Michael Helegbe and James Abban.

The Miners have entered the market in search of quality players to aid a campaign in the second half of the season.

The club's board has made funds available to recruit players and they have already set their eyes on prising away Liberty captain Helegbe and in-form striker Abban.

Talks between the two parties have reached an advanced stage and Ashgold's Chief Executive Officer Kudjoe Fianoo remains upbeat about enticing the players.

"We contacted Liberty Professionals for Helegbe and Abban for the second half of the season and as we speak negotiations are going well,'' Fianoo told Accra-based Peace FM

"There are other players we’re looking at but at moment we believe the experience of Helegbe and Abban can help us a lot to move up when the second round begins.

"Every team is eager to fortify their squad and so that’s why we’re also keen to get some quality additions to help our course."

Last season's top- scorer Nana Poku has joined on loan from Berekum Chelsea while the club has also been heavily linked with in-form Emmanuel Baffour who has scored 11 goals in 12 matches.
