AshantiGold goalkeeper Fatau Dauda insists the team is not getting overly excited with what appears to be their gradual rise to the Ghana  Premier League title success.

The Miners extended their lead on top of the First Capital Plus League with a derby win over Aduana Stars over the weekend.

AshGold have now opened up a seven-point lead ahead of second-placed Berekum Chelsea.

The Obuasi-based club are on track to winning their first domestic league title in two decades.

But Dauda says the team remain grounded despite their positive march to league success.

“We are not getting ahead of ourselves,” he said.

“We are taking it game after game. The focus always is to win our next game.

“If we continue to win games like these then obviously we’re going to be successful in the end.”
