AshantiGold striker Yakubu Mohammed has expressed disappointment at not being able to hit his 25-goal target for the season.

The 21-old-year scored in Sunday’s 3-2 win over runaway Premier League champions Asante Kotoko to extend his goal tally to 14 in 25 matches.

Despite the fairly good return with a 0.56 goals per game on the average, the former Real Sportive player insists the return could have been much better knowing very well it would have certainly won him the Goal King Award as he savoured the win over Kotoko.

“Honsetly, I hoped to have scored more this season. I targeted 25 goals for the season, but we struggled to score many in the first-half of the campaign” Yakubu told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I have one more game and I am just hoping to add a few more goals to my account.

“It was an important win over Kotoko though. It moves us up to third in the table and we were all very happy, we are all pushing very hard. If we win our last match, we can still get second.”

Yakubu who is the second highest scorer in the Ghanaian topflight behind Emmanuel Baffour hopes to turn full professional with a move abroad.

“Nothing is decided, but I would love to continue my career outside of Ghana,” he continued.

“I am hoping to leave this year. I want to make the people of Ghana proud with my achievements and to make myself proud."
