AshantiGold will open talks with coach Yaw Acheampong over a permanent contract in the coming days.

The 39-year-old has been in charge of the side since substantive Zradvko Lugarusic was sacked earlier on in the last campaign.

AshGold’s management got express mandate to commence negotiations with the ex Ghana international over a permanent deal after a board meeting on Tuesday.

“The coach has been surrounded by several uncertainties since he has been in an acting role,” the club’s Chief Executive told Obuasi-based Time FM.

“It was therefore to be an option of retaining him (Acheampong) as our permanent coach or let him go.

“Management just got the permission to commence serious talks granted by the board so we’ll be looking forward to engaging the coach in that regard.

“He has presented us with his proposal and therefore we have to meet to discuss its details in the coming days.”

Acheampong led the Miners to last season’s FA Cup finals but lost out to New Edubiase.
