Astana will be without Ghanaian striker Patrick Twumasi for their historic UEFA Champions League game against Benfica on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old did not travel with the team to Portugal for their first ever group game in Europe’s flagship club competition.

Twumasi will be out for Astana’s next four matches due to a ban following his sending off in their penultimate qualifying round tie against HJK.

The Kazakhstani club also made history as the farthest traveled team in the competition after making a 6100km journey to Lisbon for Tuesday’s clash.

Astana secured a historic passage into the group phase of the Champions League after securing a 2-1 aggregate win over Apoel Nicosia.

They are however in a tough group alongside Galatasaray, Atletico Madrid and Benfica.
