Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello has penned a new contract at the club, which will see him stay at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia until 2020.

The highly-rated shot-stopper has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, while some reports have also suggested he could move to one of Serie A’s bigger clubs, namely the Bergamo side’s bitter rivals, Roma.

“Atalanta have renewed the contract of Marco Sportiello until 2020,” read a statement on the club’s official website. “The club are delighted to continue our relationship with the young goalkeeper.”

“Sportiello came through the club’s youth academy and joined the first team three years ago,” it continued.

“On Tuesday afternoon, the club and Marco agreed to extend the player’s contract until June 2020.”

Sportiello has featured 16 times for La Dea in Serie A so far this season, keeping six clean sheets in the process.
