Atalanta striker set for departure

Atalanta striker German Denis looks set to end his time in Bergamo this January transfer window, with a number of clubs interested in securing his services.

Having joined La Dea in 2011, the man known as El Tanque has scored 55 times in his 156 appearances for the club, in which time he has established himself as a fan favourite at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.

L’Eco di Bergamo report that San Lorenzo, Independiente and Mexican outfit Club Tijuana are all interested in offering the 32-year-old an escape route.

“After five years, it’s time to move on,” said the player’s agent, Leo Rodriguez, as reported by the paper.

Rodriguez will be present in Italy on Friday to meet with Atalanta president, Antonio Percassi, in order to further discuss his client’s future.

Denis has started 11 times in Serie A this season for the Orobici, scoring three times and contributing one assist.
