Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has commended the maturity of Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey following his remarkable performance in their 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish LaLiga.

The Rojiblancos dominated and defeated the Basque side 2-0 courtesy goals from Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa at the Wanda Metropolitano to keep up the chase on league leaders Barcelona in the league.

However, one player who stole the hearts of the Madrid-based fans was Ghanaian enforcer Thomas Partey, who has been one the key cogs of the side in the ongoing campaign.

And speaking to reporters, coach Simeone echoed the sentiments of the fans by heaping praises on the Ghanaian midfielder.

"It's a continuous growth," Simeone said at the post-match press conference.

"It hurts to leave him out as he was two weeks ago, committed to the exit of the ball, which assumes the responsibility of taking the team where he decides with the company he has, with Saúl, Gabi, Koke or Griezmann giving him security in the game," explained the Argentine coach.

“The response of the Ghanaian, who was raised in the Atlético youth academy, was wonderful on the pitch.”

"He has a lot to grow in. It's from the quarry, we have that pride of having taken him out and watching him grow as he is growing up," Cholo added, aware that Thomas took control of the game but did not lift his feet off the ground.

Thomas continues to take gallons and against Athletic again proved that he is a 'total' midfielder
