Atletico Madrid's Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey was left impressed with his performance as his side secured qualification to the quarter-finals at the expense of Bayer Leverkusen.

The 23-year-old was handed a starting role against the German outfit as drew barren Vicente Calderon.

The Spanish giants progressed on a 4-2 aggregate and the Ghana international was delighted with passage to the next round.

"We tried not to concede a goal, because we knew it was not easy, we did a great job and we are happy to move into the quarter," he said

"We know that all games are difficult, we are among the eight best teams in the world and we know that it is not easy, but we will continue as four years ago from game to game and we will take this forward.

"I'm very happy. I had been dreaming about coming here for a long time now and now I have arrived. I'm going to try to enjoy it. "

Atletico Madrid have drawn English champions Leicester City in the quarter-finals after Friday's draw in Nyon.
