German side Augsburg asked to take Marko Marin on loan from Chelsea during the negotiation between the two clubs for Ghana defender Baba Rahman.

The two clubs have reached a compromise on a fee agreement for left-back Abdul Baba Rahman but an injury to Augsburg's new signing Piotr Trochowski has prompted the Germans to ask about the 26-year-old.

Marin who joined Chelsea from Weder Bremen in 2012 but has never made an impression and has been loaned to Sevilla, Fiorentina and Anderlecht.

The German, who has 16 caps for the national side, could now be returning to his home country and positive talks over Rahman are likely to sweeten Chelsea's stance on the midfielder.

It's unlikely that Marin will be able to force his way into Jose Mourinho's plans, so a move away looks to be the only option for the winger.
