Augsburg are almost done with the signing of Philipp Max as the replacement for Ghana defender Baba Abdul Rahman who looks set to complete a move to Chelsea.

The German club have moved quickly to replace the rising Ghanaian left-back with a €4m signing of Max from Karlsruher.

This is after reported emerged last week that Augsburg have finally accepted an improved offer from Chelsea for the transfer of Baba Rahman.

The club’s Sporting Director Jens Todt revealed the deal to sign Philipp Max from Karlsruher is almost done.

“We are in the home stretch [concerning Max’s deal],” he said.

“There are only a few technicalities which will be sorted and clarified soon.

“The fee should be around €4m.”

Augsburg are reportedly going to earn a massive €25m from the sale of Baba Rahman and will be using just a paltry of this proceed to sign Philipp Max from Karlsriher.
