Jordan Ayew is now the breakaway performer for Aston Villa

Ghana coach Avram Grant is concerned by the effects of Aston Villa’s poor form on the ever-improving Jordan Ayew.

The Black Stars striker has recovered from a difficult start to his career in England to be the breakaway performer within the struggling Villa side in recent games.

Jordan appears to have found his scoring boots – scoring three in four consecutive games – but his goals have not been enough for Remi Garde’s side who keep slumping to defeats.

Avram Grant who is coach of Jordan Ayew at international level fears the poor form of Villa could have an effect on the 24-year-old who keeps improving match-after-match.

“It’s not good for him,” the ex Chelsea boss said on Ayew to Sky Sports.

“When you’re playing in a team that’s struggling, it’s not easy to perform, especially as a striker when the midfield doesn’t have a lot of confidence.

“I’m sure if the team was better, he would be better. It shows a lot about his character.”

Avram Grant however insists the former Lorient striker possess an immense potential to become one of the top strikers in the world.

“He has big potential,” Grant added.

“He’s a guy who controls the ball very well. He’s strong, has a lot of qualities and is doing very well.

“It’s not easy to perform well in a team that’s struggling, so the thing which is most important to be is all his progress – he keeps getting better and better. He’s a good striker.”
