Avram Grant has reiterated his desire to lead Ghana to her fourth successive World Cup appearance in Russia, setting a performance target of emerging the best African nation at the global showpiece.

Grant at a media parley in Accra on Monday stated that he is not chasing any form of history but more concerned at making Ghana proud with another World Cup qualification.

The four-time African champions will be heavily involved in the qualifying campaign ahead of the group stage draw next year.

The Black Stars secured a routine passage to the group phase after defeating tiny Comoros 2-0 on aggregate.

The African giants have qualified for the last three World Cups held in Germany (2006), South Africa (2010) and Brazil (2014) to put huge pressure on the former Chelsea coach to secure another berth at the global showpiece.

The 60-year-old has underlined his desire to lead the country to yet another World Cup appearance with a clear target of becoming the best African nation in Russia 2018.

“I am thinking about positive things, I always educate my children, my players and friends to think positive not look at the negative scenes unless we need a solution for them,” he said

“For me I will try my best to qualify to Russia and do well there. If I will be there or not it doesn’t matter but I will try to do my job.

“My big dream is that we will be ahead of any African country at the World Cup.”

Grant has supervised a largely successful tenure since he was appointed in December last year, leading the country to a silver-medal feat at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
