Ghana Black Stars head coach Avram Grant says skipper of the Black Stars Asamoah Gyan has been unlucky with injuries and hopes he finds a way back soon

The 30-year-old has been ruled out for a month with a thigh injury meaning he will miss Ghana’s AFCON 2017 qualifier against Mauritius this Sunday.

Before that the Shanghai SIPG man missed the last game against Mozambique due to another complication while he was training with the national team in Accra.

Gyan despite recent set-backs remains the nation’s best shot of goals and leads as the Black Stars all time goal scorer with 48 goals, a feat equaled by none.

“Asamoah has been unlucky with injuries in recent times but I hope he is back very soon,” Avram Grant said

“In his absence Ayew is the captain and he is doing a good job and this is not the first time he is doing that.”

The former Sunderland man will be hoping to put behind him the challenges when he returns from this latest injury.
