Coach Avram Grant admits he was unhappy with the bonus row that hit the Black Stars camp ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Comoros.

The Black Stars players were reportedly unwilling to board a chartered flight to Comoros for the first leg of the World Cup preliminary playoff over the delayed payment of outstanding bonuses.

Reports were also rife the Sports Ministry were planning to slash the $10,000 paid each player for wins in competitive matches by 50%.

The Black Stars players were said not to have taken this attempts to slash their bonuses lightly and almost boycotted the qualifier against Comoros.

It took the intervention of influential persons including coach Avram Grant to convince the players in taking the flight to honour the game in Comoros.

This sad development is similar to what happened at the 2014 World Cup where Ghana’s campaign was wrecked by a bonus row.

And coach Avram Grant revealed he registered his displeasure over how the bonus issue is being handled by officials.

“It is no secret that I want everything settled,” Grant told a press conference on Monday.

“I was not happy with what happened before the Comoros game.

“It wasn’t my area but I had to use my influence but I have told everyone this is not good for the team.”

Avram Grant took over the Ghana job in December 2014 while the team was still suffering the after effects of their disappointing campaign at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The former Chelsea boss however managed to lead the Black Stars to the finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
