John Antwi has been ignored by Ghana coach Avram Grant

Ghana coach Avram Grant's exclusion of Egyptian top-flight top scorer John Antwi from his provisional 31-man squad for the 2015 African Cup of Nations has sent shockwaves across the country.

The former Chelsea manager decision to call fourth tier striker Kwesi Appiah ahead of Ismaili top scorer Antwi has sparked heated debates among the fans in the country.

Radio station debates has been focused on this since Grant released his squad on Wednesday with many questioning the decision while others backed the coach.

Arguably the biggest surprise on the list is striker Appiah, who is on loan at Cambridge United in the fourth tier of English football from Crystal Palace.

The 22-year old striker Antwi has been in a terrific scoring form this season in Egypt which has led to calls for him to be included in the squad.

Antwi has bagged 11 goals in 13 league appearances for the Dervishes to top the scorers' chart in Egypt.

The exclusion on Antwi from the squad is however good news for Egyptian club Ismaily as they will have their striker  during the tournament.
