Midfielder Gladson Awako admits he failed to live up to expectations in Berekum Chelseaââ¬â¢s league opener with Mighty Jets on Sunday.
The Champions who were very active during the transfer window needed a late strike by Captain Abdul Basit to salvage a draw.
And Sunday's performance according to the coach Steve Pollack, does not reflect the hugeà investmentsà madeà to bring in as many as 18-new players including ex Ghana internationals; Baba Amando and Charles Taylor.
One of his expensive off-season acquisitions, Gladson Awako was however quick to own-up to his ownà lacklusterà performance on the day.
"It was a very difficult game for us and we didn't play well as a team but we managed to get a point which was very important," the ex Heart of Lions playmaker told GHANAsoccernet.com after the game.
"My performance on the day wasn't that bad even though I think I didn't play particularly well.
"I have to work on my physique and I'm sure everything will be fine."
Awako however added that the team aims to atone for Sunday'sà disappointmentà with a good win in their next league outing against Liberty Professionals.
"We played away and you know how difficult it is to play your first league match away from home but I am sure we will work hard to get all three points when we play our next match at home," he said.
