Ex-Ghana international Awudu Issaka says Black Stars players must demand their monies before playing for the country because of unfulfilled promises by government over their bonuses.

Ghana's World Cup campaign was fraught with players demanding their appearance fees which was not paid by the government despite cast-iron promises by the authorities.

Since the tournament in Brazil in June, several Black Stars players have been branded as greedy for making their demands over the promises made to them by the sports ministry.

With the sports ministry trying to pacify some old players with age-long promises, Issaka says the current generation of footballers must demand their monies before playing for Ghana.

" The current Black Stars players must ask for every pesewa promised them , in our time if we had demanded for our money we would not be in this mess and now the state is trying correct the mistakes by giving out some monies to the old Black Stars players," Awudu Issaka said.

"My humble advise for the current Black Stars players is that they have to ask for every pesewa that the nation promised them."

Issaka says since the current game has become business players have got every right to demand the cash before playing for their countries.

" Now Modern football is business and not playing for free, the players must make money in their youthful days so that in future they will not dwell in poverty.

"I totally agree with players for demanding for their promised money before they try in kicking the ball, moreover if you go to Europe the past footballers there normally gets some financial help but in Ghana nothing of that sought they will rather wait for you to die before you are remembered," Issaka added.

Issaka was a key member of Ghana's 1995 U17 World Cup winning squad and played for the Black Stars in some matches. He is currently coaching his own youth academy.
