Ghana and Chelsea defender Baba Rahman has admitted he lacked fitness when he joined Chelsea mainly because he had a truncated pre-season.
The 23-year-old defender joined Chelsea last summer from Augsburg for a reported 21 million pounds.
In what was a topsy-turvy season for the entire Chelsea squad Rahman managed a total of 22 games in all competition, not bad for a first timer.
But he has revealed he struggled initially because he was not ready physically when he arrived.
â”When I arrived last season my fitness wasn't the best and so I had to really catch up,” Rahman told Accra based Starr FM
"Everyone is trying hard to secure a place in the starting line-up, so I also have to work extra hard.”
Rahman has played three of Chelsea’s first four pre-season games but it remains to be seen if he will be a part of the Chelsea team under Antonio Conte.
