Ghana defender Baba Rahman is expected to join German side Schalke 04 in the coming days Ghana's leading football website GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The 23-year-old will return to Germany just a year after signing for the Blues from Augsburg.

The move to Chelsea is hours away as the player’s Ghanaian manager Kurt Okraku has flown to Germany to help tie up the final details of the transfer.

Chelsea paid a whooping 21 million pounds for the defender and were initially reluctant to let him leave after just a season.

But Rahman enjoyed maximum success under now Schalke manager Markus Weinzierl during his Augburg days and opted for a return to Germany.

GHANAsoccernet.com understand that other clubs like Wolfsburg and Lazio all wanted to take Baba on loan but the Ghanaian opted for Schalke.

Rahman played in 15 league games and 22 games in total in what was a topsy-turvy season for the dethroned English Champions.
