Barcelona not interested in Liverpool boss Klopp, Arsenal manager Wenger

Barcelona have no interest in pursuing Jurgen Klopp or Arsene Wenger as their next manager.

Reports in recent times have indicted that the Catalan giants are considering the Liverpool and Arsenal bosses as possible replacements for Luis Enrique.

However, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague is of the belief that president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the Barça board have zero intention of going after the German of Frenchman.

“Barcelona have no interest in Klopp or Wenger," Balague told Sky Sports.

“As far as Klopp is concerned, it is not because he isn't good - he quite clearly is - but rather because there is no way they could ever coax him away from Liverpool.

“Wenger, meanwhile does not figure in their plans."

Balague also suggested that Sevilla's Jorge Sampaoli remains the number one candidate to step into Enrique's role ahead of Athletic Bilbao's Ernesto Valverde, with Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino, Real Sociedad's Eusebio Sacristan and Everton's Ronald Koeman also being linked.

Balague added: “There is no way that Pep Guardiola will return and while Mauricio Pochettino has got his admirers as well, it will be difficult for Barcelona to go for the former Espanyol captain.

“Surprisingly, Eusebio Sacristan is not in the equation primarily because Real Sociedad play like a Barcelona team.

“Ronald Koeman is favoured by a section of the media, but there are a lot of doubts about his managerial career within the Barcelona board.

“Certainly his previous experience in La Liga managing Valencia was not his finest hour although he did win the Copa del Rey there, so Sampaoli still looks the favourite with Valverde also in the running.

“We will see; time will tell."
