Medeama coach Bashir Hayford has hailed the team’s effort in his side’s famous 3-1 win at Hearts of Oak.

The Mauves and Yellows managed a brilliant win over the capital-based side in the biggest match of the season, opening a one-point gap at the top of the table.

A brace from Joseph Gordon and a header from Eric Nyarko condemned Hearts to their 6th defeat of the season.

Mahatma Otoo scored the consolation for Hearts in the 3-1 drubbing.

“We came into the game with a plan and it worked to perfection,” Hayford said

“We knew Hearts are going through difficult times and so we capitalized on that and scored those beautiful goals.

“Our game plan changed after Tanko was shown the red card but we never gave up and fought hard for the three points.

“I told them to shoot from long range and that resulted in the wonder goal from Joseph Gordon. This is a young chap who has just recovered from an injury.

“This is his third game. We have about three players in the treatment room and so I believe when the second round starts, Medeama will play a beautiful game.”

Medeama are top of the table and will host Tema Youth on Sunday.
