Head coach of AshGold Bashiru Hayford has commended his players for their 2-0 win over local rivals New Edubiase United describing the game a tough one.

The Miners have experienced one of their worst seasons in the history of the Ghana Premier League following their title triumph last season.

But the head coach thinks that their win over the Bekwai-based side can be the beginning of a new era for his side.

He commended his players as well as the visiting players.

“The game wasn’t bad at all. The opponent were very strong and we knew that because it was going to be something like a local derby.

“It was going to be a very strong match but at the end of the day I think we were able to carry the day by winning two goals to nothing,” he told reporters.

AshGold are now 11th on the league log with 29 points from 23 matches.
