Bayern Munich v Eintracht Frankfurt: Prince Boateng laments Jerome's absence in DFB Pokal final

Published on: 15 May 2018

Ghana forward Kevin Prince Boateng has been left disappointed with Jerome Boateng's absence when Eintracht Frankfurt square off against Bayern Munich in the German Cup final on Saturday.

The Eagles will engage Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the 2017/18 DFB Pokal final at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

However, the match which was heavily hyped around Prince squaring off against sibling Jerome, will only see the former featuring in the game after the latter was ruled out with a groin injury.

"I’m very sad about it [Jerome's absence], but we [Frankfurt] also have better chances for that reason," Kevin-Prince told Spiegel.

"Jerome is one of the best center-backs in the world, and without him Bayern are a little bit weaker."

Born to a Ghanaian father but different German mothers, the brothers have turned out in almost opposite ways.

While Kevin-Prince plays for Ghana and has endured a rather controversial career, Jerome, who represents the German national team, is known for his cool-headedness.

"I made a lot of mistakes, and he was intelligent enough to see what mistakes he needed to avoid," Kevin-Prince added.

"And of course he also worked hard.

"Jerome was always a good defender, but there was always this “but.”

"But he’s too sleepy. But he’s too slow. But this, but that. He trained hard and ended that.

"He continued to develop and he still isn’t done.

"He’s a very calm guy, closes his eyes, and pushes through."
