Beaten-up referee Kyeremanteng hospitalized

Referee Patrick Kyeremanteng is responding to treatment at the James Town Polyclinic in Accra after he was brutally assaulted by some irate supporters of Ebusua Dwarfs on Sunday.

The irate supporters went berserk after he disallowed what seemed a good goal scored by captain Bismark Asiedu in the second half in their Premier League defeat to Aduana Stars at home.

The home fans poured onto the pitch and physically assaulted the referee and his assistants after the game at the Robert Mensah stadium.

He was transferred to the capital on Sunday night and reports say the experienced referee is responding to treatment at the Ridge hospital.

It is however unclear of the whereabouts of his two assistants Augustine Akugre and George Saijah.

The Ghana FA is expected to launch an investigation into the matter which has received widespread condemnation with a three-mach home ban likely to be the sanction.
