Bechem United denied AshGold the opportunity to return to second place after handing down a 2-0 defeat to the Miners at the Len Clay Stadium in the Ghana Premier League in Sunday's only kick-off.

Ghana U20 invitee Noah Martey fired Bechem in front in the 25th minute with a superb finish before Augustine Okrah nailed the game before Bashir Hayford's men before few home fans who attended the game.

AshGold went into the game with Hearts' win at Aduana in memory and sought to collect all three points at stake but it was an attacking minded Bechem side that emerged victorious over their hosts.

Bashir Hayford's side were boosted by former Premier League Golden Shoe Award winner Emmanuel Baffour who led their attack while they also had Ghana CHAN full-back Tijani Joshua in their set-up.

After placing much emphasis on passing game and failing to yield the results, Bechem turned the heat on them and took the lead through Martey who brilliantly finished off.

Right-back Seiba Alhassan made the run and sneaked past Ofosu Appiah and when all was expecting a pull out, he laid the ball back for unmarked Martey, who controlled first and blasted past goalkeeper Nana Bonsu.

Emmanuel Baffour came close to equalising for AshGold on the 71st minute but he curled his shot a bit wide.

And then Okrah finished off a flamboyant attack initiated by Yaw Arnol who skirted past defender Eric Opoku and fired at goal but his ball hit the side post and it fell infront of Okrah to plant home.
