Yahaya Mohammed claims Hearts refused to sign him

Hearts turned down an offer to sign embattled Kotoko midfielder Yahaya Mohammed, the 26-year-old has claimed.

Mohammed is under investigation at Kotoko after he swerved the club to sign pre-contract agreement with Libyan side Ittihad Tripoli.

The former Tema Youth ace has not been free from troubles as he has been accused of being a maverick.

He claims he was close to joining Hearts but that move was thwarted by former chief Fred Crentsil on claims that  his partnership with Laryea Kingson could spell doom for the side.

“It was during the time I was having issues with Kotoko and K.K. Sarpong was in charge. I had a call that my card had been released to Hearts of Oak without my consent. But upon reaching there I was told to wait and that they were going to get back to me,” he said

“I got really confused and did not know what to do. It was later I was told that they (Hearts) met with some of their supporters and Directors and the decision was that, I was very troublesome so they could not sign me.

“I was very surprised, but I had to move on, and since the then coach of Kotoko and CEO was not interested in me playing for Kotoko, I joined new side Amidaus and till now, I am very happy I made that switch.

He added:  â€œWhat I heard was that, they said they couldn’t even control their own Laryea Kingston who was by then having problems with coach CK and so if I join them, it would be worse.”

“I took it easy and continued with my career and I thank God that I am gradually getting to where I set myself to be.”

Mohammed is yet to play for Kotoko since he returned from the 2014 African Nations Championship.
