Asante Kotoko ace Yahaya Mohammed denies he is a maverick after hogging the headlines for all the bad reasons last month following his reported move to Libyan side Al Ittihad Tripoli.

The midfielder-cum-striker is accused of leaving the country to sign a pre-contract with the oil-rich side without Kotoko’s knowledge.

Mohammed, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is facing punishment from the club.

The former Amidaus Professionals captain is reported to have rejected a contract extension so he could leave the club on a free transfer.

He has been labeled a ‘boy boy’ and for many, he is seen as a controversial character.

“I am not a bad boy as some people are spreading around, lately,” the former Nice player said on Kumasi-based Kessben FM.

Mohammed is yet to play for Kotoko since he returned from the 2014 African Nations Championship.
