Africanfootball.com has reported that Belgian side RKC Genk are ready to hand Ghana midfielder Bennard Kumordzi a contract extension.

The 29-year-old’s current deal runs out in June 2015 but the Blue and Whites want to keep him at the Cristal Arena.

Kumordzi has spent two seasons at the club and made a huge impression after scoring seven goals in 58 appearances in the Belgian Pro League.

Head coach Emilio Ferrera, who worked with him at Greek side Panionios, has been able to bring the best out of him.

"I'm certainly open to that. Here I feel good. Both on the field, where I enjoy the confidence of the coach, and off it," Kumordzi told The Age.

Genk face Standard Liege on Sunday in a must win clash to secure a Europa League qualification spot.
