Belgian giants Standard Liege interested in Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda

Fatau Dauda has been warming the bench in South Africa

Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda is set to leave South African side Orlando Pirates for Belgian giants Standard Liege following his exploits at the World Cup.

The former Ashanti Gold shot-stopper is desperate to leave the Absa Premiership giants after enduring a torrid time at the Buccaneers.

Dauda is eyeing a move away from the Parktown-based outfit, after attracting interest from Belgian giants Standard Liege following some impressive showing at the World Cup.

He has revealed that following his performances at the World Cup, Daniel Opare, a World Cup team-mate and ex-defender of Standard Liege, was contacted by the Belgian club to reach Dauda.

"Just after the game against Germany, Daniel Opare (Ghana defender) told me his coach at Liege wants to speak to me," Dauda is reported to have told the Ghanaian media.

"I spoke to him but I believe everything for now will depend on my agent," he concluded.

The shot-stopper endured a forgettable 2013/14 PSL season in South Africa and the former Ashanti Gold player could only make three appearances for the Buccaneers.

The Accra-born keeper made two appearances at the 2014 Fifa Brazil World Cup tournament against European powerhouses Germany and Portugal.

In the past, the 29-year-old goalie, whose Bucs contract expires in 2016, has been linked with a possible move to North African and Middle Eastern teams.

Dauda is just not a well drilled goal keeper. I blame anyone who trained him till now. Look at the air of calmness and control around well drilled goal keepers like Vincent Enyeama, Manuel Nuer, Cassilas and the likes. Kwarasey is a TRAINED goal keeper, Dauda on the other hand is flippant and over jumpy in the post just to make up for his lack of pire goal keeper technique. You think Abrofo are tokes? No European team will even accept Dauda for free because they need that bench space! If standard liege takes him I will staying sober for 2 days. Tweakai!

I don't think Opare should be suspected, I don't think he played that badly and he was recovering from injury. The coach shouldn't have field him. Boye and Dauda are definitely suspect. Almost all of the goals against Ghana came by Boye. And then he gets this big contract. Daud A's gift to Ronaldo should also be investigated. What team in the world would want him after that unless he was put up to it.

John Boye, Fatau Dauda and Daniel Opare should be investigated once the GFA president has been kicked out. For John Boye and Fatau it was clear something fishy was going on. For Opare, I watched the USA game again and suspected him after making about 7 wasted crosses. Unusual for an experience player. Not not if the Porto wanted him to waste the chances knowing thinking Portugal would beat USA and Ghana and advance with Germany.

Very bad story. How come you gsn are lying like this. Is it by force to create a story by all means? Dauda told which section of Ghanaian media? How come you were not present? Aren't you also Ghanaian? And how come those media people who were there are not talking except you who wasn't even present as you suggest. And I almost took you guys serious.

Tweakai! Fatau for the where? Even if he offers his services for free they will not accept him for waste of valuable bench space! You think the Belgians are toke? A keeper who passes a harmless ball to an opposition striker who is not even thinking of scoring. Ronaldo was just standing there dreaming of Nachos when Fatau patted him on the shoulder and literally said 'hey my friend there you go... free ball, I admire you so here is a ramadan gift for you'' . False Stories from GSN infact If Fatau becomes a Belgian Goalkeeper I will not drink for 2 days!

There is more to goal keeping than shot stopping. Dauda is a shot stopper who has a very serious flaw - aerial balls whipped in European style. This flaw until corrected will be exploited by opponents both at club level and with the national team. He can't play in Europe with this flaw. He should not be Ghana's number 1 until the flaw is corrected. The goal he gifted Ronaldo was terrible goalkeeping. Why have the North Africans not yet offered him a deal? The Europeans are not fools you know and will not buy the shameless plugging GSN undertakes.
