Ben Koufie not hurt by Black Stars technical adviser snub

Ex Ghana FA boss Ben Koufie insists he is not disappointed by his exclusion from the running to become the new technical adviser of the Black Stars.

The 82-year-old is reported to have been nominated by coach Kwesi Appiah for the new technical role being created for the Ghana national team.

The Ghana FA is however said to have declined Appiah’s nomination – citing Koufie’s age as reason.

Four expatriate coaches have since been shortlisted for the post including former Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac for the expected lucrative job.

Koufie, who serves as a CAF instructor however says he is not bothered by his omission from the running for the job.

"Well, if that is what they want then so be it," he said.

"I am not disappointed at all."

The Ghana FA is expected to make announce the appointment somewhere next week.

To be fair, Ben Kwofie has been advising Akwasi Appiah long before this position was created. I don't think anything stops him Oti Akenteng and Osam Duodu from continuing to give advise. But what stops GSN from finding out the other four contenders apart from Milo?

This tells you how crazy Kwasi Appiah is and his motives in the black stars. How can you nominate an 82 year old for this job. Only for him to still be in charge because his age will not let him do much.

AA has no pride as a person.Going to the World Cup,which is the mother of all football events,he did not request for technical advisor. Why now?after a heinous display of bankrupt technical ideas he has now realised that he needs an advisor and his choice, omg ,makes me want to throw out.82 year old with dinosaur technical ideas. I think all AA wants is to stick for the $800,000 contract and retired to UK afterwards because its clear with his coaching ability no national side nor club will wants to waste their money on him. Ghana is a lovely country but the leaders. Can't believe they are appointing an advisor for AA who would be paid much more than AA when they owing coach Opeele as far back as 2011. If AA is not good ,why not get rid of him.

Uncle Ben you have done your best for Ghana. Take an honourable rest. At your age you deserve respect and not the insults Ghanaians will heap on you should the team perform poorly. Even the president is not spared insults.
