'I benched Fatau Dauda so I deserve award' - Pirates keeper Meyiwa screams
Meyiwa says he benched Fatau Dauda

Orlando Pirates keeper Senzo Meyiwa has angrily hit out at South Africa authorities for snubbing him for any awards insisting that his benching of Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda shows he was excellent this season.

Meyiwa said their Nedbank Cup triumph over Bidvest Wits on Saturday will help ease the disappointment as he has been jettisoned from the Bafana Bafana squad and is not short-listed for any awards.

Meyiwa hinted at a bias against Bucs players, saying that he would like to know as to how award and selection processes are undertaken.

"I have done well this season and I wanted to compete for the goalkeeper of the season, but I was not nominated despite doing well," Meyiwa said.

"With my performances this season, I find it to be very unfortunate that I am not nominated as the keeper of the tournament.

"I also wanted to be part of the Bafana squad as I have been competing against Ghana's number one [Fatau Dauda] and I have kept him on the bench, not because of favouritism but through performance," he said.

"That's where I see that there is no fairness in South African football because I have played most of the games. It is killing us as players.

"I think the judging processes are bent against Pirates players, even when it comes to national team selection."
