Benteke low on confidence but has to take chance when it comes - Liverpool great Rush

Legend Ian Rush has urged Christian Benteke not to squander another chance to impress for Liverpool.

Benteke has endured a very difficult time since joining Liverpool from Aston Villa over the summer and is currently struggling to even get regular minutes under his belt at Anfield.

Liverpool great Rush believes that Belgium international Benteke is currently suffering from a lack of confidence and has urged him to grab any opportunity that comes his way from now till the end of the season.

Speaking to the Metro, Rush said: "I think he's short of confidence.

"I was happy when Liverpool signed Benteke. Two years ago, he was ahead of Romelu Lukaku and Divock Origi in the national team.

"He has got ability but he's obviously just frustrated because he's not playing week in week out.

"It's difficult if you're not playing every week to get yourself match fit. He just needs to score goals.

"He will get his chance. And when he does, he's got to take it. If you're scoring goals, it's hard for a manager to leave you out."
