Berekum Chelsea coach says striker Bekoe is overweight

Published on: 10 October 2012

Berekum Chelsea assistant coach Annor Walker has branded new signing Eric Bekoe has too fat to play competitive football.

The extra kilos gained by the former Kotoko striker is as a result of his inactivity due to a long lay-off.

Walker said Bekoe looks heavy on the pitch during training and unfit to play in the Ghana Premier League.

He has vowed to put the 25-year-old through a specialized training programme to help him get to his best.

The lack of pre-season conditioning has caught up with Bekoe.

Ghana Premier League top scorer signed for the 2011 champions on a free transfer in September after a botched move to former club Asante Kotoko.

Bekoe missed Berekum Chelsea's opening day 2-0 win over Heart of Lions at home last Sunday due to his incomplete registration.

The club are yet to receive his International Transfer Certificate from the Egyptian Football Association.
