Berekum Chelsea are reluctant to release midfielder Latif Salifu to Hearts of Oak despite the player signing a new deal with local giants.

Salifu,25, signed a three-year deal with the capital-based side this week amid huge expectation.

The former Liberty Professionals is reported to have signed the dotted lines without undergoing a mandatory medical.

Chelsea have refused to release the official document to Hearts to complete the deal due to unpaid signing on-fee to the club.

“We have the papers of Latif Salifu. We gave him the goal-ahead to talk to them but it means nothing,” Chelsea president Nana Kwame told Accra-based Peace FM

“The fact he has signed for them means nothing. We hold his economic right and Hearts know what to do.”

But reports are sensationally claiming in the West African country, Hearts want the former Ghana Under-20 midfielder to pass a medical before advancing the cash to the club with fears he may not be fully fit.
