Berekum Chelsea striker Kofi Owusu is livid with claims he was allowed free room to score cheap goals against Hearts to aid his goal-king credentials.
Owusu bagged a brace to close the gap to one with just one game left to end the season.
With leading scorer Nathaniel Asamoah out of the picture, Owusu could either equal the 18-goal haul or surpass it to emerge goal king ahead of the final game of the current campaign.
The striker’s double in the capital has raised eyebrows in the country with widespread reports claiming he was gifted to score as a compensation for the side’s 3-2 defeat at the Accra sports stadium.
But the 25-year-old has rubbished the claims, insisting they are wide off the mark.
“When I hear such claims, I get sad. I have scored so many goals. Why did people not say that Chelsea paid Kotoko score I could score against them? Why are they talking about my goals against Hearts? He quizzed on Accra-based Atinka FM
“This is unfair. I am working hard and will fight on to score (two) more on Sunday to claim the goal-king award."
He must score two goals against Wa All Stars on Sunday to emerge the new goal king hero of the Ghanaian top-flight.
