Berekum Chelsea striker Kofi Owusu has revealed Champions League football decided his decision to sign a one-year loan deal with Ashantigold.

The Blues made a sensational U-turn after agreeing a season-long loan deal with the miners for their goal-poacher after revealing he will not sign for a local club.

But Owusu has insisted Ashantigold’s participation in next year’s CAF Champions League attracted him to the club.

“I want to play in the CAF Champions League, that’s why I signed the loan deal with Ashantigold,” he said

“I will play for them next season. The Champions League is a great platform for me to sell myself to clubs abroad.”
