Assistant coach of Ghana's U-20 women's team Ben Fokuo believes improving the defensive department of the side holds the key to success at the World Cup.

The Black Princesses have been drawn in a tough group alongside Germany, China and the USA.

Monday's draw has aroused many fears that the team's chances of making in out of Group D are extremely slim considering the quality of opposition.

But Fokuo bets to differ by saying Ghana is capable of causing a major upset at the World Cup provided the defence is strengthened.

"In the last tournament we did well and scored some goals but our problem was with our defence," he told Accra-based Radio XYZ.

"So I am sure we will do well if we improve on our defence because we also have a good team."

The World Cup being hosted by Japan will kick off on August 19 and ends on September 8.
