Ghana have drawn South Africa, Cameroon, and Algeria in the most difficult Group for the 2014 African Women’s Championship later this year.

The Black Queens now face a herculean task of booking of the two qualification slots for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.

South Africa’s Bayana Bayana were runners-up at the 2012 tournament but were beaten 1-0 by the Queens in May in a friendly.

Cameroon won bronze in Equatorial Guinea two years ago by edging Nigeria in the third/fourth playoff.

Group A, which contains the hosts Namibia, Zambia, Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire, looks fairy balanced.

Ghana secured a 4-0 aggregate win (1-0 away and 3-0 home ) over Senegal two months ago to qualify for this year’s finals.

The draw for the eight-team tournament was held in the Namibian capital Windhoek on Saturday evening.

If only the girls are very serious with their training because from what has transpires in Brazil, I am convinced Ghanaian players do not put in much effort during training. The technical team should get video clips of our group members and critically analyze their tactical formations and map out effective strategies to outwit them on the field of play. Cameroon plays a very physical game so our girls should leave the ball and go to the gym for weight lifting. They should run for long hours in the sand on the sea shore as part of physical preparations. Further more, they should train at higher altitudes because the southern part of Africa is very hilly.
