Black Queens striker Portia Boakye "surprised" by CAF nomination

Black Queens striker Portia Boakye says is shocked at her nomination for the  2015 CAF Women Player of the Year.

The striker has been phenomenal for both club and country and her name has been chosen along with the likes of Gabrielle Onguéné (Cameroon) and Gaelle Enganamouit (Cameroon), Ngozi Ebere of Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire.

“I’m very happy about my nomination. Whatever happens is predetermined by God. I never thought I would even be nominated," she told Accra based Happy FM

"I have always played out of my heart."

Boakye’s volley in the final of the All Africa Games earned Ghana a historic gold medal in the 1-0 win over Cameroon.

The winner will be announced at the Glo-CAF Awards Gala scheduled for Thursday, January 7, 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria.
