Ghana took a giant step towards qualification to the 2014 African Women’s Championship after a first leg 3-0 win over Burkina Faso on Sunday in the penultimate qualifier.

A double from Faiza Ibrahim and a goal by Agnes Aduako in the first half handed the Black Queens a comfortable advantage.

Ibrahim started the rout in the 3rd minute with her first of the evening before Aduako made it 2-0 for Ghana in the 16th minute.

Eight minutes later, Ibrahim was on hand again to make it three-nil.

The return leg will be played in Accra on the weekend of February 28 – 2 March.

The Black Queens will meet Ethiopia in the final qualifying round if they advance.

The 2014 African Women’s Championship will be played between 11–25 October where the top three team qualifying to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
