Black Starlets to play friendly against Aburi Republicans today

The Black Starlets of Ghana will today play third-tier side Republicans as part of their preparatory games ahead of this year’s Africa U-17 Championship in Gabon.

The team have been pitted in Group A alongside host country Gabon, Cameroon and Guinea in the tournament which is scheduled to commence from May 21st -June 4th.

In an interview with Happy FM, coach of the side Paa Kwesi Fabin declared that they will use the game to fine-tune the rough edges of the squad before the start of the tournament.

“The postponement of the tournament has disintegrated our cohesion so we’re trying everything possible to get the boys in shape before the tournament starts.”

“Little by little everything is falling in place as we hope, and this afternoon we’ve arranged a friendly game against a division two side Republicans in Aburi to see whether we have made much improvement.”
