Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey makes full Spain top-flight debut in Atletico Madrid win
Thomas Partey earned his full debut for Atletico Madrid on Saturday and has now played in 8 league games for the Madrid giants

High rising Ghanaian international Thomas Partey made his full Spanish La Liga debut in the Atletico Madrid on Saturday in their 3-1 triumph over Eibar at the Vicente Calderon.

Atleti manager Diego Simeone named the 22-year-old in his starting line-up, deploying him on the right side of midfield but was replaced just before the hour mark by Oliver Torres.

The former Tema Youth midfielder started alongside the experienced duo of Koke, Gabi and Belgian Ferreira Carrasco in a 4-4-2 formation.

Partey went into the referee's pocket on the first quarter of an hour mark as the Spanish referee - David Fernández booked him for a harsh challenge on an Eibar midfielder.

Atleti fell behind thanks to a Keko strike for Eibar but Jose Maria Gimenez and Saul Niguez scored for the hosts.

Though Partey has scored scored twice in the season for the Madrid side, Saturday's game was his first start of the season - he scored the winner against Levante in early January while he scored in the Cope Del Rey.

He is slated for a Black Stars call-up as the Ghana FA have confirmed head coach Avram Grant is monitoring his performance.
