Ghana coach Avram Grant has defended his decision to hand a call up to Kazakhstan based striker Patrick Twumasi.

The Astana forward was part of the 23 players that have been called up to play in Ghana’s game against Mauritius this weekend.

Grant choice Twumasi ahead of more home-based forwards like Saddick Adams and Dauda Mohammed.

“Patrick is doing well since the beginning of the season. He has scored goals for his Club and was also very good in the UEFA Champions League,” he told the press.

Grant has a two year contract with the Ghana Football Association which runs out next year after the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
