Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi says the Black Stars are determined to hit the ground running in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to win back the love of the fans.

The Ghanaian fans appear apprehensive in offering their full support to the Ghana national team following their massive disappointment at the 2014 World Cup.

Many Ghanaians feel slighted by the manner in which the Black Stars made a first round exit from the tournament staged in Brazil.

The tea failed to perform due to several distractions, paramount amongst them was the agitation by players over delayed payments of appearance fees at the World Cup.

The West African state virtually became a laughing stock to the rest of the world in the manner in which situations unfolded in the Black Stars camp.

But Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi believes vital lessons have been learnt to ensure the team first start off with a win over Uganda on Saturday and go on to make and possibly win next year’s finals in Morocco.

“It’s [the mood] positive. I think that the players have rediscovered their confidence and morale is high,” he said.

“They are more than determined to redeem themselves by performing well and convincingly against Uganda on Saturday.

“They want to win and win against Togo. They are determined to topping the group so we seal our qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations 2015 in Morocco and hopefully win that championship.

“I am very optimistic that the Brazilian experience is a stepping stone for us to turn the fortunes of the country around and move into an era of excellence that will see us qualifying and possibly annexing the trophy in Morocco.”

The Black Stars are already in Kumasi to prepare for Saturday’s opening 2015 AFCON qualifier against Uganda.

The team will then travel to face Togo in their second game in Lome five days later.
